Steven Z. Ehrlich has challenged me to post one nature/wildlife/landscape photo each day for 7 days.
This one is for day #1.
I took this photo while with my lovely son at Rainham Marshes looking for Owls, Warblers and of course Bearded Tits.
The rules of the challenge are: someone nominates you, you post 7 nature/wildlife/landscape pictures over the course of a week, and nominate a new person each day.
The edges of the QE Olympic Park are seeing more improvements up to the standard of the central Orbit, Velo and Aquatic area.
The River Lea stretch has seen hints of it's future with those half finished bridges now connecting the Park to new entrance points and a massive increase in barge moorings bringing new ventures.
Greenway overlooks the part of the QE Olympic Park still being converted. It always was a poorly disguised major sewer & treatment plant, and the roads between the Greenway and the south side of the Stadium are the main site for the Stadium's conversion. But they have always maintained the area and given it interesting details that reflect it's history as well as making it a destination for culture. Sadly, it looks unloved and neglected. With graffiti, rubbish and vandalism spoiling the walk, long hoardings hiding and stopping access to garden meadows, road works exposing the sewer, and the old warm up track area now a wasteland full of puddles & mud. It has lost it's purpose and shows no sign of a legacy.
