"No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man." - Heraclitus
A photographic experience of the waterways around my ancestral countryside.
Was it fate that returned me to Berkshire after thirty years away working in London as an advertising and editorial photographer?
A chance stroll along a familiar river and I discovered a photographers delight in the transformed streams and waterways around where I grew up,
Stumbling across early photo studies awoke undercurrents of memory. Idyllic childhood walks, fishing expeditions.
Had I changed and now saw these tributaries afresh?
Trying to capture their charm and elegance, I was fascinated by the complexity and beauty the water instills.
Do we benefit from this natural source to the cost of these ancient waters? Can we change a waters course?
Or do we need to just go with the flow!
